IMCC inmate dies in hospice

An inmate at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center has died after fighting a chronic illness.

According to the Iowa Department of Corrections, 62-year-old David Allen Wieling, Sr. was pronounced dead due to natural causes at 4:35 Friday morning while in the IMCC hospice unit.

Wieling had been serving a 15-year maximum term for the crime of 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse and other charges from Ida County. His sentence began on November 14, 2018.
