The University of Iowa’s Mayflower Residence Hall could have new owners by the end of the month.

In February, the U of I said they were selling the building and using the proceeds to help with the construction of a new dorm on the east side of campus. Its current listing price is $45 million.

The Daily Iowan reports real estate broker Jeff Edberg of Lepic-Kroeger Realtors said while no official decision has been made, the outlook of the sale seems positive.  Edberg told the DI while no deal hsas been made, interested parties have made proposals that are being reviewed by university administration.  He added that most parties want to keep the building as a private dorm.

Tricia Brown, the senior director of internal communication and public relations within the UI’s Office of Strategic Communication, told the student newspaper they have no update to share at this time.

Edberg believes that within the month, a chosen buyer will be conducting inspections of Mayflower, execute a change of ownership, and move forward with their plans.
