An Iowa City woman was arrested after providing authorities with a false name in order to hide the fact that she was barred from driving.
A trooper came upon 39-year-old Jennifer Isbell of East Market Street in a Ford Escape on the side of northbound I380 along with another vehicle the evening of July 22nd. A check of the license plates on both vehicles indicated that neither of the drivers were the registered owners. The trooper asked Isbell for her phone number so she could be contacted once the vehicle was towed. She reportedly said she didn’t have a driver’s license on her, and provided a false name with an incorrect Social Security Number and a date of birth that was nearly about ten years younger than her actual age.
Isbell allegedly could not provide any identification with her name, and was unable to provide an address. When asked if she could be located on social media, she reportedly said she goes by “Krystal Blu” on all her accounts.
Isbell was eventually identified, and it was discovered that she had a barred driving status. She allegedly told the trooper that she had also driven the day before.
A warrant was issued for her arrest July 24th; she was booked at the Johnson County Jail Sunday night. Isbell has been charged with Driving While Barred as an Habitual Offender and Providing False ID information. If convicted on both counts, she could be sentenced to over two years in jail.
