The two incumbents running for Iowa City District A City Councilor won their primary Tuesday.

The Johnson County Auditor’s Office says Laura Bergus, who is currently an At-Large city councilor but is now a resident in District A, received 58.4 percent of the votes cast, followed by District A incumbent councilor Pauline Taylor with 25 percent.

The third candidate, longtime Iowa City resident Tim Borchardt, received 16.5 percent of the votes.

Of the 9860 registered voters in the District, 6.58% of them cast ballots in Tuesday’s primary.

Bergus and Taylor will now be on the November 7th general election ballot. Results are unofficial until the canvass on Thursday.
