A University of Iowa homecoming tradition comes to an end Tuesday night at Mayflower Hall.
Every year during homecoming week students living along the west side of the eight-story building use their room lights to spell out “I-O-W-A”. Photos of the event propagate on social media every fall. But earlier this year, UI officials announced they were selling Mayflower, and the current school year would be its last housing students.
The final “IOWA on Display” event is set for 8 to 9:00 Tuesday night. Those interested in watching the lighting and/or getting photos are encouraged to do across North Dubuque Street from Mayflower Hall at Terrell Mill Park, which houses the Iowa City Skate Park and the Beckwith Boat House.
