A Texas woman allegedly committed a number of traffic infractions early Saturday, leading to her arrest on suspicion of OWI.
30-year-old Janet Rienye of Roanoke Texas was allegedly observed near the intersection of Linn and College Streets just before 12:30 am. According to the arrest report, she was driving without headlights at night, running a stop sign, making an improper turn, and driving on the wrong side of a two-lane highway.
When stopped, Rienye reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, impaired speech, unsteady balance, and had the odor of ingested alcohol. Rienye allegedly admitted to drinking, and exhibited measurable impairment during field testing.
She refused a preliminary breath test and all chemical testing, despite insisting that any test would prove that she wasn’t intoxicated.
Rienye was charged with OWI first offense, and could be sentenced to up to one year in jail if convicted.
Arrest reports from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office show area law enforcement agencies have arrested a total of 15 individuals this weekend for OWI as of Sunday morning. Two of those individuals were charged with their second offense.
