A Chicago woman was taken into custody after being found with marijuana and firearms during a traffic stop.

Police say 36-year-old Velma Hood was a passenger in the vehicle, stopped just after 12:30am Saturday. Because the odor of marijuana was reportedly observed, a probable cause search was conducted.

Hood reportedly was found with two bags of marijuana, a loaded Luger pistol, and a marijuana blunt that was still burning.  Hood allegedly admitted that the items were hers, and that she had smoked marijuana.

Hood was charged with first offense Marijuana possession and Person Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons. If convicted on both counts, she could be sentenced to up to two years in jail.
