An Iowa City man was taken into custody this week on warrants for two thefts and marijuana possession.

Police say the first incident occurred on the morning of May 20th, when 29-year-old Christopher Dahlhauser of Marcy Street was reportedly seen on video at the Comfort Inn in Coralville, removing a bicycle seat from a bike. He then slid the rest of the bike off the lock attached to the railing. Dahlhauser is then allegedly seen on video riding the bike away from the scene. The bike was valued at over $800.

In the overnight hours of July 13th, Dahlhauser was reportedly caught on surveillance video, stealing a pair of golf clubs from a parking area for the apartments on the 600 block of South Riverside Drive.  Police say the clubs were worth about $200.

Officers located Dahlhauser the morning of July 17th, riding a bike near the intersection of Broadway Street and Highway 6.  Despite lights and siren being activated, Dahlhauser refused to stop. He also ignored verbal commands to stop, and was able to evade capture.

Dahlhauser allegedly dropped a backpack at the initial scene, reportedly containing a marijuana grinder and a pipe for smoking meth.  Both contained drug residue.

Dahlhauser was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon on arrest warrants stemming from the earlier incidents. The charges include 3rd degree Theft, 3rd degree Burglary, 3rd or subsequent Controlled Substance violation, and marijuana possession. If convicted on all counts, Dahlhauser could be sentenced to up to thirteen years in prison.
