A Coralville elementary school has received a national honor.
Borlaug Elementary is one of five Iowa schools…and only 353 nationwide…to be named a “National Blue Ribbon School”.
The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups on assessments. The U.S. Department of Education says National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as models of effective and innovative school practices for state and district educators and other schools throughout the nation.
Borlaug Elementary will receive a National Blue Ribbon School flag that will be displayed at the school to recognize the achievement.
