An Iowa City man faces multiple charges after he allegedly forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment.
Police say the incident occurred just after midnight on Sunday. 32-year-old Keylunn Rogers of Crosspark Avenue allegedly showed up at the woman’s apartment, and when she answered the door, Rogers reportedly shoved his way inside and began searching for suspected male guests. When the woman tried to stop Rogers from entering her residence, he allegedly shoved and hit her, resulting in abrasions. He also reportedly forced a bedroom door open and knocked over several items before leaving.
Rogers was located later in the day following a second altercation with the woman.
The two had lived together at some point in the past year, but a no-contact order between them is currently in effect after an August incident where he was charged with Assault causing Bodily Injury.
Rogers was arrested and charged with violation of the no-contact order, Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury, and 2nd degree Burglary. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to 11 years in prison.
A hearing on the August charge is scheduled for October 2nd.
