An Iowa City teen is accused of converting a pistol into an automatic weapon.
Iowa City Police say the 16-year-old was seen holding a pistol with an auto sear…converting it into what investigators describe as a “machine gun”…outside his Westgate Street residence just before 12:30pm on August 26th. A check of the boy’s cellphone reportedly turned up photos of him pointing the gun at other teenagers.
The teen is charged with Unauthorized Possession of an Offensive Weapon. If convicted as an adult, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
