The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says a Linn County man was found staying in a stolen camper at Lake MacBride Campground.

Arrest records indicate the camper was spotted at the campground just after 7:00 on the night of September 7th. Arriving officers say the occupant, 62-year-old Arnold Lusk of Hiawatha, was not the registered owner. A divorce decree also indicated he had no right to the camper. Deputies say Lusk admitted the owner wanted it back, but he had failed to return it because he was staying in it.

A search of the camper reportedly turned up a pipe used for smoking methamphetamine, which  had a partially-burnt piece of meth still inside. A jar containing two baggies of suspected marijuana was also allegedly found.

Lusk was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 5:15 Wednesday night and charged with 1st Degree Theft, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 12 years in prison.
