Gov. Reynolds orders flags at half-staff on 9/11

Press Releases from Iowa Governor’s Office

DES MOINES – Gov. Kim Reynolds ordered all flags at half-staff from sunrise to sunset in Iowa on Monday, September 11, 2023, in honor of Patriot Day and in memory of those who lost their lives in the September 11th terrorist attacks. This year marks the 22nd Memorial of 9/11.

“Even on our darkest days, the American spirit can never be broken. In honor of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, let us remember we are one nation, under God. Freedom and liberty will always prevail.”

Flags will be at half-staff on the State Capitol Building and on flag displays in the Capitol Complex. Flags will also be half-staff on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state.

Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect.
