A Solon motorcyclist faces charges that he led Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies on a brief chase Friday night.

A traffic stop was attempted on 51-year-old Michael Kessler of East 6th Street just after 8:15pm on East Stinocher Street. Deputies say Kessler refused to stop despite them activating their lights and siren, leading them on a chase reaching over 25 miles per hour over the posted speed limit. The motorcycle eventually left the roadway and Kessler was taken into custody. He reportedly showed signs of intoxication and refused breath testing.

Kessler was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 1:15 Saturday afternoon and charged with Operating While Intoxicated and Felony Eluding. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of six years in prison.
