An Iowa City man was arrested Friday after allegedly attempting to entice a minor for sex acts.
Police say that afternoon, 33-year-old Michael Wheeler of Elmridge Avenue began to communicate with a person he believed to be under the age of 16. During the conversation, he asked the person to meet him for sex acts.
Wheeler allegedly sent a picture of himself while erect and described what he would do to the minor.
Wheeler arrived at the pre-arranged meeting place while continuing to communicate with the person. He was then located and detained.
When interviewed, Wheeler alleged that he was going to meet with the other person to warn them about the dangers of the internet. He did reportedly admit to communicating with the other person about sex acts.
Wheeler was charged with enticing a minor under 16 for sexual purposes, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years If convicted.
