A warrant has been issued for a North Liberty man accused of threatening his roommate with a knife.

21-year-old Josue Luna Bolanos of North Dubuque Street had a hearing scheduled for Friday in Johnson County Court. Online records show Judge Brandon Schrock issued a bench warrant after Luna Bolanos reportedly failed to appear.

North Liberty Police say Luna Bolanos tried stabbing his roommate with a large knife as the man walked through the front door of their apartment around 7pm on June 13th. The roommate was able to push Luna Bolanos away without being injured.

Luna Bolanos is also accused of kicking in the bathroom door during the same incident and swinging a large knife at his alleged victim. The man fell into the bathtub while trying to fend off Luna Bolanos, who was reportedly still trying to stab him. Luna Bolanos allegedly said he was going to kill him.

Arrest records do not indicate if the man in the bathroom was the roommate or a second victim.

Luna Bolanos is charged with two counts of Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of four years in jail.
