A Quad Cities man is accused of breaking his ex-girlfriend’s nose during an early Sunday morning assault in downtown Iowa City.
Iowa City Police say 21-year-old Franz Sirna of Davenport got into an argument with the woman just after 2:15am on the second level of the Clock Tower Parking Ramp on Iowa Avenue. The incident reportedly turned physical, with Sirna allegedly throwing his ex-girlfriend to the ground. She suffered a broken nose and lacerations to her face and arm.
Sirna reportedly showed signs of intoxication when he was found by police. He allegedly pulled away from officers and refused breath testing.
Sirna is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, Interference With Official Acts and Public Intoxication. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 14 months in jail.
