Iowa City Police say a drunk driving suspect crashed his car into multiple other vehicles inside a downtown parking ramp Saturday night.

19-year-old Kevyn Medina of the Cole’s manufactured housing community on South Riverside Drive is accused of driving his 2005 Chevy Colorado through the Capitol Street ramp while intoxicated just before 10:45pm. Police say he was involved in what they called a “significant collision” with multiple parked vehicles.

Upon contact with officers, Medina reportedly showed signs of intoxication. He allegedly admitted to drinking, showed measurable impairment on sobriety testing, and provided a breath alcohol level of .093%. Police say the inside of his vehicle smelled of burnt marijuana, and a search of the vehicle turned up a small amount of marijuana, a marijuana pipe with residue, and a marijuana grinder.

Medina was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of 13 months in jail.
