Police say an officer was threatened and sprayed with aerosol by an Iowa City woman during a Thursday morning traffic stop.

Iowa City Police report observing 68-year-old Carol Klein of Shagbark Court driving on a  revoked license just before 10:45am on Melrose Avenue near Westwinds Drive. A traffic stop was initiated, but police say Klein initially failed to stop her 2021 BMW X2. She eventually pulled over, but officers say she refused their commands to exit the vehicle and had to be physically removed.

While Klein was being pulled from her car, she allegedly told police, “I will f—ing kill you” and attempted to spray them with a can of aerosol.

Klein is charged with Eluding, 1st Degree Harassment, Interference With Official Acts, Driving While Revoked, and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability. If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of over four years in jail.
