An Iowa City woman who had an active warrant for an alleged burglary was arrested Thursday night for an incident at a downtown restaurant and bar.

Footage from the Vine Tavern and Eatery on East Prentiss Street showed 27-year-old Jonie Nard of South Dodge Street striking a male in the face around 9pm.  After the man tried to restrain her and walked away, Nard can reportedly be seen on camera picking up a can of OC spray and spraying the man in the face.

Nard was arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor.

She was wanted for a July 10th incident at the East Burlington Street Kum & Go. At around 9pm that night, she entered the store and brought items to the counter. The clerk believed Nard had stolen an item, and told her she could not buy any of the items on the counter until she paid for all items.  Nard reportedly then walked behind the counter and tried to take the items. An ensuing scuffle led to Nard hitting the clerk with a food item and grabbing the clerk by the throat before fleeing the area.

A warrant on a 2nd degree Burglary charge was issued Monday.

If convicted on both counts, Nard could be sentenced to up to six years in prison.
