Iowa City Police seeking public assistance with arson investigation

The Iowa City Police Department is seeking the public’s help with an arson investigation.

The incident occurred sometime between 1 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2023, at 1601 Aber Ave. Multiple items outside of the apartment building were intentionally set on fire.

A check of the police activity logs show a 911 call came in at 9:08am from an individual at the site who said he discovered items were stolen from his work truck, gasoline had been poured on the top of the vehicle, and the door handles had been burnt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Iowa City Police Department. In addition, anyone in that area with security cameras is asked to review their recordings and contact the Iowa City Police Department with any potential footage or information about this incident.
