An Iowa City man who was wanted for alleged continual harassment of a woman was additionally charged with drugs and weapons charges.

37-year-old Elijah Williams of Aber Avenue believed that the woman was responsible for getting him fired from his job, and contacted her through email and reportedly issued subtle threats to find her and cause physical harm to her.

The woman requested that Williams refrain from further harassment, but he allegedly ignored the request and continued to annoy, intimidate and alarm the woman, putting her in fear for her physical well-being.

Authorities charged Williams with 3rd degree Harassment and issued a warrant for his arrest.

An officer located Williams Monday just before 10 pm in a parking lot on Highway 1 standing outside his vehicle.  He asked that he be allowed to put his possessions in his vehicle and lock it up, but the officer refused his request as the vehicle was running and he didn’t want Williams to flee.

Williams stated he had the right to go into his vehicle, and was told he needed to be searched first. Williams then admitted to having a firearm in his pocket. A further search turned up a small amount of marijuana in the center console of the vehicle.

Williams was additionally charged with 2nd offense marijuana possession and person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons. If convicted on all the charges against him, Williams could be sentenced to up to 25 months in jail.
