The Johnson County Attorney’s Office has filed charges against University of Iowa men’s basketball manager Evan Shuster for tampering with records involving sports gambling.

The Gazette reports Shuster placed ten bets on Iowa men’s basketball games over the previous two seasons.  He’s accused of placing over 2000 bets totaling over $15,000.

Court documents say of the ten bets on Iowa games, nine were placed on a FanDuel account under his father’s name, and the last under his own FanDuel account once he turned 21.

Shuster is accused of underage gambling; violating licensed sportsbook user terms and conditions; unfair wagering; and conflict of interest. The tampering with records charge is an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison if convicted.

Shuster is the eighth person connected to Iowa athletics to be charged as part of the Department of Criminal Investigation’s sports wagering probe.  Team spokesman James Allan told the Gazette the University of Iowa continues to fully cooperate with investigators.

It’s unclear if additional people from Iowa will face charges.  Eight current or former Iowa State athletes also face tampering with records charges.
