Cedar Rapids Police investigating body pulled from Cedar River

The Cedar Rapids Police Department is investigating a Sunday afternoon incident involving the recovery of a body from the Cedar River.

According to a release from the city, Cedar Rapids Police and Fire were called to the Cedar River at approximately 2:30 pm following the report of a body floating in the river. Officers located a deceased, adult male floating along the west bank of the river between the Ellis boat ramp and I Ave boat ramp.

Cedar Rapids Firefighters deployed a boat and were able to recover the body just before 3:30p.m.  The identity of the deceased is unknown and an investigation is underway.
