A Tiffin woman arrested for OWI added to her troubles when she allegedly produced a fake ID to Iowa City police.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Burlington Street and Riverside Drive at approximately 12:45 am Friday. 18-year-old Emma Descourouez of Ella Avenue was behind the wheel of a 2012 Hyundai Elantra when she was stopped for an alleged traffic violation. Upon contact, she reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, impaired speech, unsteady balance, and had the odor of ingested alcohol.
Descourouez was also wearing bar wristbands, indicating she was at least 21 years of age. When asked, she allegedly produced a fictitious Iowa driver’s license showing her to be 21 despite being underage.
Descourouez was taken into custody and charged with first offense OWI and Possession of a Fictitious ID. If convicted on both counts, she could be sentenced to up to two years in jail.
