An Iowa City man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for receiving child pornography.
According to public court documents and evidence presented at sentencing, 23-year-old William Robert Adams was identified through a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children after suspected child pornography was found on Snapchat.
During the execution of a search warrant on Adams and his residence, law enforcement located numerous pictures and videos of children ranging in age from toddlers to 16 years. Law enforcement also found evidence that Adams was buying and selling child pornography online. Some of the images were determined to be sadistic or masochistic. In total, Adams was attributed with possessing over 5,000 images of child pornography.
After completing his term of imprisonment, Adams will be required to serve five years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system. Adams was also ordered to pay restitution totalling no less than $3,000 per victim.
The case was investigated by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
