High speed police chase near Mid-Prairie High School leads to one arrest

A reported high speed chase near Mid-Prairie High School has led to an arrest.

Washington County dispatch records indicate a deputy was involved in a chase with a motorcycle that reached speeds up to one-hundred miles per hour. The short chase took place just after 5:45 Saturday night on Highway 22 near Wellman. The motorcycle finally pulled over in front of Mid-Prairie High School. The driver, 46-year-old Willie Garrett, is charged with Speeding, Driving Without a License, Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle, and Reckless Driving.

Bulltown Towing removed the motorcycle from the scene.

Online records show Garrett pleaded guilty to an Assault Causing Bodily Injury charge in Johnson County in 2019.
