A Cedar Rapids woman was charged with Child Endangerment after an incident at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics this past March.

According to police, 24-year-old Alexandra Frost brought her two year old son to the Children’s Hospital over multiple days between March 13th and 17th.  The child reportedly had low blood sugar levels that required medical attention, which included the administration of glucose. Lab tests showed the boy’s insulin levels were very high.  The child continued to have the same condition as he was admitted during the five-day window.

Surveillance video allegedly shows Frost administering an injection to the child while he was admitted to the hospital. Staff removed the boy from Frost’s custody, and has not had further blood sugar or insulin issues since.

A warrant was issued for Frost’s arrest on August 8th; she was taken into custody the next day, charged with Child Endangerment causing Serious Injury. She posted bond and was released, with future court dates to be determined.

If convicted, Frost could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison.
