Search warrants conducted on two Coralville residents led to their arrests Tuesday.
Officers pulled over 29-year-old Claudell Sheppard of Holiday Court just before 4pm on the Coralville Strip with a warrant to search the vehicle. Officers allegedly located four individual baggies of marijuana that Sheppard originally pulled from underneath his seat.
A search warrant was executed on Sheppard’s residence as well, and officers reportedly found 216 grams of marijuana in various packaging. They also allegedly found empty packaging material and a digital scale.
Sheppard was charged with marijuana possession, failure to affix drug stamp, a controlled substance violation, and keeping a residence for controlled substances. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to 13 years in prison.
At approximately the same time, a search warrant was conducted on the 1st Street residence of 28-year-old Marquis Sheppard. Several bags with marijuana residue inside and a marijuana bong were reportedly located. He was placed under arrest but allegedly refused to get into the squad car and had to be physically placed inside. During a search incident to his arrest, officers reportedly located a cigarette box containing three marijuana roaches and brass knuckles on Sheppard’s person.
Marquis Sheppard was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with official acts, and person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to 26 months in jail.
