The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says a Cedar Rapids woman led deputies on a ten-mile chase along Highway 218 Friday night.
The pursuit reportedly began just after 7:15pm near the Hills exit when a traffic stop was attempted on a 1999 Ford F150 that was traveling 79 miles per hour in a 65 mile per hour zone. The driver…later identified as 56-year-old Amy Summers of 13th Avenue SE…allegedly refused to pull over despite multiple law enforcement officers activating their lights and sirens. The pursuit ended after about ten miles when stop sticks were deployed.
Once in custody, Summers reportedly showed signs of intoxication, showed signs of impairment, and provided a breath alcohol level of .085%.
Summers is charged with Eluding and Operating While Intoxicated. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of two years in jail.
