Arrest made in Columbus Junction cabin burglary case

An arrest has been made in a reported cabin burglary near Columbus Junction.

According to a news release from the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, just before 2:15 Thursday afternoon a possible home invasion was reported in the 19000 block of 140th Street. A resident reports they pulled into their cabin along the Iowa River and witnessed a man walking away from the building.  After further inspection, it was discovered the cabin, the cabin next to it and a camper had signs of forced entry with multiple items stolen or damaged.  It also appeared the man had been residing in one of the cabins for a brief time.

Deputies arrived on the scene at 2:33pm and were unable to locate the suspect despite the use of a police K9 and a drone.

A citizen tip led to an arrest in the case late Thursday night. The identity of the suspect has not yet been released.
