Transient arrested after alleged assault on wife

An area transient was taken into custody Monday after an alleged assault on his wife.

According to the arrest report, the incident occurred at 501 Southgate at approximately 11am.  49-year-old Randolph McClaine’s wife was reportedly walking away from him when he allegedly grabbed her by the back of the neck and pushed her to the floor. He then reportedly stood over her and hit her in the face twice.

McClaine’s wife of one year was observed with bruising around her left eye, and had blood under her nose when officers arrived.

McClaine was charged with simple assault and Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury; if convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail.
