An area transient who allegedly had possession of a stolen checkbook tried to use it to purchase items and was arrested.
42-year-old Heidi Skriver was reportedly at the 24-hour Walgreens on Muscatine Avenue just before 3:30 am Tuesday and tried to purchase items. The cashier allegedly witnessed Skriver sign the victim’s name that was on the check.
Skriver was arrested on Forgery, Theft, and Possession of Stolen Property charges. A search subsequent to arrest reportedly discovered prescription drugs in her backpack.
She was then charged with Unlawful Possession of a Prescription Drug. If convicted on all counts, Skriver could be sentenced to up to over seven years in prison.
