An Iowa City woman faces charges after providing a false ID when arrested for her second OWI.

Police stopped 23-year-old Yeimi Fernandez Martinez on Burlington Street near Highway 1 just before 2:30 am Sunday for operating her Toyota without headlights.  Upon contact, she allegedly had watery eyes, had the odor of ingested alcohol, and loss of balance.  Fernandez Martinez was reportedly wearing a bar wristband, and showed clues of impairment during field testing.  A PBT allegedly showed her blood-alcohol level at .191 percent; she refused a Datamaster test.

After dropping off Fernandez Martinez at the Johnson County Jail to be booked, staff informed the arresting officer that she gave him a false name.  A check of Fernandez Martinez’ record showed her driving privileges revoked for a previous OWI until September.

Fernandez Martinez was charged with OWI second offense, Driving while Revoked, and Providing False ID information.  If convicted on all counts, she could be sentenced to up to over three years in jail.
