Cedar Rapids man arrested on drug charges after allegedly bringing minor into Iowa City nightclub

A Cedar Rapids man faces drug charges after allegedly bringing a minor into an Iowa City nightclub while in possession of narcotics.

Iowa City Police were called to a fight at The Summit on South Clinton Street just after 12:30 Wednesday morning. According to the investigation, a minor had assaulted two bar employees. A subject with the minor, eventually identified as 21-year-old Jerris Maschino-Duncan of 31st Street SE, allegedly interjected himself into the situation during the investigation. He reportedly gave a false name and date of birth to officers. Police say a post-arrest search of Maschino-Duncan’s bag turned up a blue rock suspected to be MDMA. The substance later reportedly field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Maschino-Duncan’s bag also reportedly contained a digital scale and his credit card.

Maschino-Duncan is charged with a Controlled Substance Violation, Possession of a Controlled Substance – 3rd or Subsequent Offense, Providing False Identity Information and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over 15 years in prison.
