A tenth suspect has been charged with felony rioting in connection with an Independence Day shooting on Iowa City’s west side.

Iowa City Police were called to a report of a gunshot victim on the 2600 block of Westwinds Drive just after 1am on July 4th. Multiple surveillance videos taken from the scene reportedly show a group of 10-15 people who assembled to use unlawful force against another person. Nine other people have already been charged in the case. A tenth suspect, 24-year-old Andre Williams of Davis Street, was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 4:30 Sunday afternoon.

Participating in a Riot is a Class D Felony punishable by a maximum of five years in prison.

Williams also faces charges of Assault Causing Bodily Injury after he allegedly assaulted a male who was not a part of his group.  Iowa City Police say Williams was located on the Ped Mall later that night while in possession of 20 grams of marijuana. He now also faces a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
