A West Liberty firefighter was in the right place at the right time on Sunday after a camper caught fire at an Oxford campground.

Oxford and Tiffin firefighters were called to Sleepy Hollow Campground on Black Hawk Avenue at 1:45 Sunday afternoon for a camper on fire. But the first firefighter on the scene was actually a member of the West Liberty Fire Department. Travis Kaalberg commented on a post about the fire on the Eastern Iowa Fireground Facebook page, saying he was the first on the scene and that he put the fire out. Kaalberg was staying in a nearby camper when the fire broke out.

There were no reported injuries. A cause and damage estimate have not been released.
