An Iowa City woman faces multiple charges after she allegedly broke into a North Liberty residence early Friday and held the occupant against her will for several hours.

The incident reportedly occurred at 1:20 am at Holiday Lodge. 47-year-old Nicole Ambrose of Blue Stem Court allegedly made a hole in the screen door of the residence, unlocked the door and entered the home.  The woman woke up to Ambrose touching her back and pressing a gun into her side.  Ambrose then reportedly told the woman she explored the residence before waking her, and had taken the woman’s phone away from her so that she couldn’t call police.

Ambrose allegedly told the woman she wouldn’t be hurt if she cooperated. A roll of plastic, handcuffs and a backpack that Ambrose wouldn’t let the woman look into were laid out on the couch.  Ambrose reportedly told the woman she was going to kill herself and needed her gun as part of her plan.

Ambrose allegedly wouldn’t let the woman out of her sight and held her captive at gunpoint until the woman was able to talk Ambrose into leaving at approximately 4:45am.

She was located by police just before 6am and allegedly was in possession of a loaded gun, marijuana, and a drug pipe.

Ambrose was arrested on charges of 1st degree Burglary, False Imprisonment, Obstruction of Emergency Communications, 5th degree Criminal Mischief, Assault with the Use of a Weapon, Carrying Weapons, Marijuana possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted on all counts, she could be sentenced to over 30 years in prison.
