Bad news for eastside Iowa City motorists is good news for motorists in western Iowa City, Coralville and North Liberty.
The Iowa Department of Transportation has announced it is relocating its Iowa City location to 2303 Jones Blvd in Coralville on Monday, July 31st. The last day of service at the Iowa City DOT location in Eastdale Plaza will be Wednesday.
No services will be available on Thursday (7/27) or Friday (7/28) to allow staff time to move equipment to the new facility. In-person services will resume when the new location in Coralville opens on Monday, July 31st at 8:00 a.m.
The new location, between Theisen’s and Costco, was chosen after what the DOT says was an extensive search for a space that could better accommodate the volume of customers in the area. The agency says the new location will offer customers a larger, more spacious and modern facility to do business. They will offer the same services, just at a new location. CDL testing will continue to be administered at Lineage Logistics on Highway 6 East in Iowa City.
