Iowa City Police have arrested a man they say defecated in the hallway of his apartment building, then refused to clean it up.

Officers were called to Cross Park Place just before 3:45 Monday afternoon. Staff claimed 63-year-old Russell Weston defecated on the floor of a common hallway and was given four hours to clean it up. He allegedly initially refused, then started to clean it up before he stopped.

Police say Weston smelled of ingested alcohol, had slurred speech, had poor balance and admitted to being “a little drunk”. His breath alcohol level was measured at .265%.

Weston pleaded guilty to a Public Intoxication charge on Tuesday and was sentenced to one day in jail.
