A North Liberty man has been arrested after what police say was an over 90 minute standoff at his residence.
North Liberty Police say 43-year-old Nathan Davis defied a no-contact order when he texted the victim in a case against him multiple times asking her whether she was going to testify for or against him. He also reportedly tried to coach her on what to say at the trial.
Iowa City Police say Davis even rode to the Johnson County Courthouse with the alleged victim on Monday morning so she could discuss the case with someone there.
North Liberty Police attempted to arrest Davis at his North Dubuque Street residence just before noon Monday. He reportedly refused to answer the door, despite officers seeing him walk into the house. Davis allegedly ignored announcements that the police had a warrant for his arrest and that he needed to come out. Attempts were also made to contact Davis via phone calls and text messages. Police say Davis eventually came out of the house an hour and 40 minutes later.
Davis is charged with Tampering With a Witness, Interference With Official Acts and a No-Contact Order Violation. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 25 months in jail.
