Iowa City Police say a suspect used credit and debit cards stolen from an Iowa City public pool to go on a spending spree and rent a hotel room.

The victim reports his wallet was stolen from City Park pool sometime after 4pm Saturday. By 8:00 there were $1,534.39 in new, fraudulent charges on his credit card and $901.09 on his debit card. The debit card purchases were made at the Coralville Walmart.

One of the credit card charges was from the Highlander Inn in Iowa City. The victim called the hotel, which informed him the person who rented the room was still there.

Iowa City Police arrived at the hotel just before 7:45pm and arrested 23-year-old Sha’Kenyah Grisby of Shamrock Place. She faces charges of 2nd Degree Theft and two counts of Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card. If convicted on all three charges, Grisby faces a maximum of 12 years in prison.
