A rural Oxford man is accused of threatening to “kneecap” an Iowa City parking attendant with a baseball bat after receiving two tickets Saturday afternoon.
25-year-old Jalen Collins of 360th Street SW was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 4:15pm Saturday. Arrest records indicate Collins was given a ticket after he parked outside Almost Paradise vape shop on the 300 block of South Linn Street Saturday afternoon and failed to feed the meter.
Police say Collins confronted a parking attendant who was placing another ticket on his vehicle just before 3:15pm. Collins reportedly slapped the cellphone out of the parking attendant’s hand, then got a baseball bat out of his car and threatened to break the man’s kneecap with it.
Collins is charged with Going Armed With Intent and Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon. If concaved on both charges, he faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
