An Iowa City man was arrested for drug possession after an alleged overdose incident this spring.

According to police, the incident involved 37-year-old Matthew Ferguson of Michael Street on April 28th.  That night, officers responded to an overdose at Ferguson’s girfriend’s residence.  During the incident, Ferguson reportedly refused to cooperate with authorities.  Officers observed a foil with an unknown substance in it in plain view; it later tested positive for Fentanyl.

Ferguson was arrested on a warrant Tuesday night; he faces a 2nd offense charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to two years if convicted.
