An Interstate 80 crash in Iowa County resulted in the death of one, with two injured.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2019 Chevrolet being driven by 18 year old Viante Leon of Washington, Michigan, was heading eastbound on the interstate near the 221 mile marker Tuesday afternoon around 1:30 when it drifted across both lanes, entered the south ditch, struck a cement culvert and rolled.
A passenger in the vehicle, 43-year-old Julisa Guerrero, also of Washington Michigan, was killed. Another passenger from the same city, 34-year-old Honorio GarciaRuelas, was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Leon was transported by Iowa County EMTs to the UIHC. Their conditions are unknown.
The incident remains under investigation.
