A Tiffin man who lost his license as a massage therapist three years ago is facing new allegations after allegedly resuming his practice with a suspended license.

Iowa Capital Dispatch reports Darryl Dodd had his license suspended indefinitely by the Iowa Board of Massage Therapy in December 2020 after a fall 2017 incident accusing him of failing to conform to the minimum standard of acceptable and prevailing practice for a massage therapist.

According to the Board, Dodd removed the draping sheet from a woman’s breast while he was massaging her.  The woman says Dodd touched her nipple, said she “had a nice rack,” and told her, “can you imagine if someone walked in right now, what sex position this would look like.” Dodd called the woman a year later, apologizing for his behavior, but asked her not to tell anyone about the incident.

The Gazette also reports that in the fall of 2019, Dodd allegedly massaged close to a woman’s pubic area without getting consent, made comments about how “nice” and “fit” her body was, and later offered to teach her a procedure that “really gets guys off.”

Dodd allegedly told one female customer in an email, “Anxiety hit me hard as soon as I uncovered your breast tissue.” He allegedly told investigators that after exposing the woman’s breasts he “sounded like a perverted teenager with Tourette syndrome and could not get himself to shut up.”

Dodd reportedly admitted to state investigators that he was aggressive on getting close to private areas of his clients, but said he did so because he claimed the results of his actions were far superior to massage therapists who did not.

In August 2022, Coralville police charged Dodd with running a massage therapy business without a permit. Dodd allegedly claimed to only be practicing reflexology at the clinic, but police said he advertised massage therapy services at the business, through e-mails, and on the online program he used to book appointments.

Dodd was found guilty at trial and paid a fine. The state Board of Massage Therapy has now charged Dodd with being convicted of an offense that directly relates to the duties and responsibilities of the profession. A hearing is scheduled for September 5th.
