Weekend police chase reaches 125 mph in Cedar Rapids

A Linn County deputy was led on a high-speed chase over the weekend.

The Gazette reports the deputy was trying to stop a vehicle speeding on eastbound Highway 100 near Ellis Road NW around 8pm. At the outset, 24-year-old Michael Bowman of Cedar Rapids was reportedly going 80 miles per hour in the 65-mile per hour zone, but after refusing to pull over, reached speeds of up to 125 miles per hour as the chase made its way to southwest Cedar Rapids.

Bowman eventually pulled over in a parking lot behind GNC on Edgewood Road  SW and was arrested. He was wanted on an outstanding warrant, and charged with Eluding, several traffic violations, drug possession and operating a vehicle without a license. The Eluding charge is an aggravated misdemeanor.
