Multiple local departments fought a structure fire in Cou Falls Monday afternoon.
According to the Jefferson Monroe Township Fire Department, crews from Swisher and North Liberty were called to a detached garage fire on Cou Falls Road just after 2:30 Monday afternoon. Fire damage had spread to the exterior of a nearby house and propane tank as firefighters arrived on the scene. The nearby house was protected from the spreading fire, and crews began dousing the garage.
Initially, a second alarm was activated to ensure enough water was available. That included fire departments from Solon, Cedar Rapids, Fairfax and Ely.
The fire was contained to the building of origin, and there were no reported injuries. A damage estimate has not been made available.
