A Benton County man faces charges that he shoplifted hundreds of dollars in merchandise from the Coralville Scheels last month.
27-year-old Brady Silberger of Vinton was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 10:45 Tuesday night. Coralville Police say Silberger and an unknown number of co-defendants were seen on security video selecting merchandise just after 5:30pm on May 6th, then leaving past all points of sale without paying.
The suspects reportedly later returned to Scheels and exchanged the merchandise for store gift cards without producing a receipt. Police say they then used the gift cards to make more purchases.
The total value of the stolen merchandise is estimated at $538.86. Silberger is charged with 4th Degree Theft, a Serious Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail.
