The city of Iowa City is reminding residents that new rates for utility services and landfill operations will go into effect on Saturday at the beginning of the city’s new fiscal year.
The changes in rates for city utilities include:
- A 4% rate increase for water
- A 2% rate increase for wastewater
- A $0.50 increase for stormwater
- A $1 increase for curbside refuse, and
- A $1 increase for curbside recycling
New rates of minimum fees for any garbage load less than 600 pounds at the Iowa City Landfill and Recycling Center are:
- $14 for Iowa City residents, and
- $15 for other Johnson County residents
